I was reading the Parliamentary review for the 5th of May and I saw this line....
"Jika tidak, bola sepak negara kita akan terus bermain bola seperti pondan yang bermain bola."
Translated: "If not, our national football team will be like gays playing football"
This "gem" of a statement was put out by the "honorable" MP from Batu Pahat, Dr. Haji Mohd. Puad Zarkashi when speaking of how bribery and gambling in our local football leagues has made our football players play like gay guys.
First off, I'm disappointed that such a statement was made by a supposed intellectual with a doctorate.
Secondly, the honorable MP has obviously never seen some of the gay guys I have in the gym, because if anything, they look like they would definitely do a better playing football than our national team.
Thirdly, what makes the honorable MP even think that all our current football players are straight?
As if he'd know, la kan....
What is it with UMNO MPs and their racist, sexist, and arrogant slurs....?
Dearest UMNO MPs,
Allow me to point out my displeasure with your statements in Parliament, especially the recent comment by the MP of Maran during Wan Azizah's question.
I quote:
"From your speech, I hear nothing good about this country. There is not a word of thank you. If Malaysia is that bad, then relocate to another country. I am upset to hear what you have to say"
Why is it that UMNO cannot actually argue things in Parliament in a rational manner?
Where is all this "you don't like, you get out of the country" message coming from?
Was it a standing order issued out to UMNO members during your yearly general assembly?
Badruldin Amiruldin did this. Noh Omar did this. And now, Ismail Abdul Mutalib is doing the same thing.
I'm surprised to be saying this, but Khairy gives better feedback and comments than you, and he's a parliamentary greenhorn!
He brought up that most of what Wan Azizah mentioned were policies put forth by Anwar Ibrahim in the 1990s. A good point to be brought forth, but irrelevant.
This just shows that the government has spent the last 18 years or so not fixing up the issues, but just letting it slide through. And now that the ex-TPM's wife brings it up, they use it to nail her.
Which brings up the question: Is Wan Azizah her husband's keeper?
Then you had the MP from Pasir Salak who said that Wan Azizah's statement on the NEP only benefited a small group of Bumiputeras was "unislamic".
The NEP is not even a religious agenda. How can her statement be unislamic?
Again with the irrationality.
UMNO, either buck up or lose the next majority.
And leave Shahrir, Shabery Cheek and Mohamed Aziz alone. Those are the good ones you have.
1. Organ Donation
Of all the person to lead the charge on filling
up donor cards, it was Jeanne Abdullah. Not even Pemuda UMNO nor the
Puteri's thought of it first. A woman over 50 had to pledge her organs
first?
That was embarrassing, wasn't it?
2. Pak Lah and speeches
The
two of them do not mix. Seriously. It's nothing against Pak Lah, I'm
sure he's a kind guy, but in terms of giving speeches, he doesn't have
neither Anwar or Mahathir's charisma. I saw his Raya speech, I saw his
speech at the UMNO assembly, and even a few others before that during
the Islam Hadhari round.
Think Jeanne can coach him, though. She's a gifted speaker.
3. Moderated kris waving, and weak explanations.
The
non-Malays need not worry, because the kris is to protect everyone. Or
so Hishamuddin says. Najib's still sticking to Sukoys and submarines,
with an arms factory in our country. So the traditions been moderated
in it's third year. I'm hoping there's no fourth year.
4. Losing leaders
Somehow
this time the UMNO Assembly had a number of weird comments. One being
the AirAsia flight attendants' uniforms. One delegate went so far as to
describe being able to see a flight attendants' "tunnel" when she sat
down.
May I ask what the delegate doing staring at peoples' tunnels while flying?
I think we may be losing credible leaders and members. If to save the Malay race means that we have to stop flight attendants from dressing in a corporate uniform instead of telling Malays to not gawk at other cultures, then I think we're actually losing hope for the entire race.
The truth is, as in all the points above, this year's assembly was very low key, and moderated. Perhaps due to the fact that they didn't show the whole thing on television this time around due to what Zainuddin Maidin calls the "public's inability to be open minded" because we, the one's who don't agree with him, think some speeches reek of racism and bigotry.
But then, an election is coming really soon, which would explain the need to be low key in this general assembly, so as not to draw flak from the people.
